Orient model

Models often arrive on their back or side. Rotate the mesh 90° around an axis until it sits the right way up. Paint, boundaries, and selections are preserved.
Click an axis to step the model 90° around it. Click again to keep going.

Size

The real printed size. Type a new dimension or a percentage and apply — paint, regions and decals carry over, and Ctrl+Z undoes it.

Palette

Pick the filaments you'll paint with. Active chips dock at the bottom of the viewport.
Match swaps every chip for the closest filament you can buy — the palette becomes your AMS load list. It changes the colors on the model; undo puts them back.

Symmetry

Mirror every paint action across an axis — great for figures and armour.

The plane shows in the viewport as a translucent blue sheet — that's the split. It starts at the middle of the model's bounding box; if your model sits off-centre (a figure on an uneven base), nudge Plane offset until the sheet sits on the real midline. Mirroring needs both halves to be shaped alike, so a stroke on an area with no partner won't copy — the status line above tells you how much of the model is paired.

Fit mirror plane is for models the three axes can't handle. A sculpted or posed figure is often symmetric about a plane a few degrees off the model's own axes — a head turned to one side is the usual case — and a few degrees is enough that nothing pairs. Fit finds that tilted plane for you. If you mark an area first (Mark tool), it fits to that instead of the whole model, which is what you want when only part of the figure is symmetric: mark the head, fit, and the eyes and ears mirror even though the posed body never will.

Auto-partition

Layerpaint splits the mesh into regions at sharp edges. Tune what counts as sharp and how small a region to keep.

Crease threshold decides which sharp edges split regions. Min region absorbs any region smaller than N faces into its neighbour. Surface change (0 = off) also splits where the surface changes direction relative to its surroundings — catches soft boundaries like a horn meeting a head that the angle alone misses. Tip: raise Crease threshold so only hard edges split, then raise Surface change to pick up the subtle ones. B toggles the line overlay.
